How to Apply for Dalhousie University Scholarships?
To apply for scholarships at Dalhousie University, please follow the instructions below.
- Sign up for an account on the FGS Scholarship Management Platform. Please choose “Use Dalhousie NetID” to log in if you already have a Dalhousie NetID. If not, kindly create a password and input your email address. Even if you want to apply for several opportunities, you only need to set up one account.
- Only one application per competition will be accepted by each candidate; thus, please do not submit multiple Harmonised Scholarship applications. Create a new scholarship application or amend an existing one by selecting from the “My Applications” list on your home page.
- Those who have applied for a master’s degree and participated in the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition may elect to use their CGS-M application during the Harmonised Scholarship Process. Please proceed through the application by selecting “Master’s Level – CGS-M Opt-In” as the submission category. Your reference letters and transcripts that you submit for the Tri-Agency CGSM competition will be linked to your opt-in form by the Faculty of Graduate Studies along with your CGS-M application. The Opt-in date is December 1st, which also happens to be the Tri-Agency-imposed deadline for CGS-M applications. To be eligible for other scholarships, you must submit a full Harmonised Scholarship Application if you did not opt-in with your CGS-M application.
- The self-identification questionnaire that may be accessed in the online scholarship platform is encouraged to be filled out by all applicants. Administrators can then make sure applicants are placed in the review process for awards that have particular eligibility requirements. The answers you provide in this questionnaire are not accessible to the reviewers and will be kept completely private.
- To proceed through the application, click “Next” at the bottom of each page. The applicant can close the application after selecting “Save” and come back to it later to make changes or updates.
- According to the requirements in the application, applicants must obtain official transcripts and upload them immediately to the scholarship portal. Copies of transcripts from admissions applications will not be given by FGS. Before submitting, transcripts from various universities must be consolidated into a single PDF. For the harmonized scholarship application procedure, unofficial grade reports rather than official transcripts may be used by current Dalhousie students.
- By the deadline of January 16, 2024 (or February 15, in the case of non-thesis applicants), all reference letters must be uploaded to the portal. After this date, the application portal will be closed to applicants and referees, and incomplete applications won’t be sent for consideration. Reference letters cannot be submitted via email or printed out. In the event of unforeseen emergencies or technical issues, it is strongly advised that applicants give their references notice of a deadline a few days to one week prior to January 14. As soon as a referee’s reference is finished, a “received” notation will appear by each referee’s name in red and an email notification will be sent to the applicant through the portal. Prior to the deadline, kindly check the status of references regularly.
- Accept the terms and conditions, then finish the application by clicking “Save and Finalise”.
Note: Before the January 15 deadline, you may withdraw your application to make modifications, such as updating your transcripts with your fall grades or making adjustments in response to departmental feedback. If you withdraw your application, you must resubmit it by the deadline of January 15 to be taken into consideration.
