Scholarship Coverage
Scholarships for PhD study at Prince of Songkla University will fund
- An allowance that covers housing and living expenditures each month, which is presently 10,000 Baht.
- Tuition fee.
- An amount not to exceed 15,000 Baht or roughly 450 US dollars, will be awarded for travel expenses to and from the home country at the start and end of the scholarship term.
- Coverage of health and accident insurance for the duration of the scholarship program in Thailand (90 US dollars)
Eligibility Criteria for Prince of Songkla University PhD Scholarships
The candidate must meet each of the following criteria to be eligible for a Ph.D. scholarship from Prince of Songkla University:
- Required Language: English
- Eligible Countries: All countries.
- Students from abroad with strong academic records and research backgrounds
- The only people who qualify are new graduate students who plan to start classes at PS in semesters one or two.
- The previous degree’s subject area must align with and satisfy the curriculum criteria of the program.
- During the same period, the applicant cannot have received another scholarship that pays for living expenses.
- The candidate needs to pass the following officially approved English proficiency exam:
CU TEP or a PSU-TEP score of 60, 500 on the TOEFL (paper-based exam), 46 on the revised paper-delivered exam, 520 on the Institutional Testing Program, 173 on the Computer-based exam, or 61 on the Internet, or A 5.0 IELTS score. - The scholar needs to have a non-immigrant “ED visa” (Study Permit) and be enrolled full-time in school. The scholar who is traveling to Thailand on a tourist visa is not permitted to enroll and risks having their scholarship revoked.
- The student needs to put effort into both studying and completing the research thesis.
- Every six months, the scholar is required to report to the dentistry faculty on the status of their studies.
- In the third semester, the scholar needs to pass the proposal exam.

- The scholar must follow the graduate requirements of each graduate school and publish his or her dissertation in at least two credible, peer-reviewed international journals that are indexed in the Web of Science (with an ISI impact factor) to meet the scholarship criteria.
- After being accepted into a certain program of study, an applicant is not permitted to move to a different program and is expected to finish the study within the allotted period.
- The committee of each graduate program must notify the Faculty of Dentistry to cancel a scholarship if the recipient has not made any progress on their studies or thesis without a valid explanation.
- As specified by the Faculty of Dentistry, additional terms are applicable.
