JUST IN: Fela, Barrister, Olaiya to be honoured as Afrobeats Hall of Fame debuts

Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, composer, political activist, and Pan-Africanist Fela, IN its mission to recognise legendary talents across Africa, Estilo Da Vida, a Nigerian lifestyle and tourism consultancy firm has launched Afrobeats Hall of Fame (ABHF) Awards and Induction Ceremony.

According to the organiser, ABHF is created to pay homage and honour African legends and entertainment veterans who have changed narratives in this industry with their achievements.

The exponential ceremony which will be marked annually has kicked-off with music challenge where contestants stand a chance to win a cash prize of $2000 and the second place wins a cash prize of $1000.

The ongoing contest will end on January 16, 2022. Contestants are to visit the Afrobeats Hall of Fame (ABHF) website to download the theme song beat, make a one-minute freestyle video to the beat, singing a recreated version of a song of any African musical legends of your choice that has been in the industry for the past 20 years.

According to the Managing Director, Estilo Da Vida, Abiola Akinlonu described the Afrobeats Hall as the first of its kind in Africa.

“Afrobeats Hall of Fame is not just an award but an induction ceremony and the first of its kind in Africa. Estilo Da Vida lifestyle and cultural icons are conceived to bring back confidence and highlight the best of African heritage, future and culture via cutting-edge platforms.”

Speaking at the launching in Lagos, the Chairman of ABHF’s Blue Ribbon panel, Kenny Ogungbe stated that the Afrobeats Hall of Fame inductees were carefully selected to appreciate their contributions in the industry over the years.

“Having been in the music industry for over three decades, myself and the other Blue Ribbon Panel members, Obi Asika, DJ Jimmy Jatt and Bankuli realised that the only way to preserve our historic culture is to celebrate our legend hence the need to have a hall of fame,” Ogungbe said.
