Igbos Have Never Sidelined Women, Our Women Have Always Been Powerful – Filmmaker Ugezu Ugezu
Veteran Nollywood actor Ugezu Ugezu has postulated that Igbo women have always been very powerful.
Ugezu Ugezu talked about the recognition of the role of women in the labour force through the Igbo extraction before the western countries started considering their women.
According to him via a post on his official Instagram page, Igbo women have always been powerful and anyone who is teaching that Igbos sidelined their woman is actually distorting history.
As he puts it;
Even before western countries woke up and started to recognize their women as core part of the labour force, the Igbo ancestors had already figured out how to make their women politically relevant through the revered UmuAda and UmuOkpu.
Anyone teaching you that Igbos sidelined their women is distorting history, and teaching you nonsense. OUR WOMEN HAD ALWAYS BEEN VERY POWERFUL. @UGEZUJUGEZU
About a week ago, Ugezu Ugezu questioned the way things are being operated in Nigeria.
The renowned actor in a recent post asked why everything in Nigeria is being operated backwards and to make his claim, he revealed why he said so.
According to him, a person notices criminal withdrawals from his account and finds the need to go to the bank to lodge a complaint.
The person is then asked to get an affidavit to prove that he didn’t order the transaction. Making the post he wrote;
“Why do we have and operate very backward structures in Nigeria?
Let us assume this withdrawal is happening when the courts are not working? How can a bank give this kind of condition to a customer who holds an account with them?
Too many tales in our country.”
