A young woman from Ghana named Evelyn Mensah told media personality DJ Nyaami of SVTV in an interview that she resigned from her job as a professional teacher to become a street hawker in Accra.
Evelyn claimed that, given her meager pay, she had to make quick decisions in order to avoid becoming totally disabled by poverty.
The young lady acknowledged that, because of her subpar result in the WASSCE, she was unable to enroll in the university.
But she was told to attend a vocational school, so she did.
She began selling pastries and other foods to support herself after graduating, but when business was slow, she changed her course and became a student-teacher.
She claimed that as a teacher, things did not as planned, so she made the decision to leave her job and establish a new business with just 50Ghana cedis.
She disclosed that things had been largely stable and that she was doing fine.
