Andrew Nice, the driver of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), has spoken out about the death of Oluwabamise Ayanwole.
Andrew Nice distanced himself from the killers in a video posted on the internet, claiming that he had no idea they were killers and that he had no relationship to them after he picked them up, including Bamise at Agungi and Chevron, respectively.
The 47-year-old man claimed that while they were on the move, the men he had picked up from Agungi brandished firearms and told him to come to a halt after passing under the overhead bridge.
He went on to say that he was terrified and that this made him follow all of their orders.
When asked why he drove away, he stated that he believed the lady was still inside the truck and ignorant that she had been pulled down. He confirmed that they were simply travelers with no ties to them.
In his words:
“When those guys showed me the weapon, I was kind of, I can’t be myself anymore. Fear has come in me. Whatever he told me was what I do. When I followed that Carter bridge, after the overhead bridge, they ordered me to stop them.”
“They ordered me to stop and said I should open the door. When I opened the door, they came down and started dragging her. When I saw she was crying for help, I was helpless. I was thinking she was inside the vehicle holding the iron. Sir, I moved on”. That’s the truth sir. I have no connection with any one of them, there were just passengers”
