How to Apply for Dalhousie University Scholarships?

To apply for scholarships at Dalhousie University, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Open the FGS Scholarship Management Platform and log in. To log in, please choose “Use Dalhousie NetID” if you already have one. If not, kindly type in your email address and set a new password. Even if you want to apply for multiple opportunities, you only need to set up one account.
  2. On your home page, pick “My applications” to add a new scholarship application or amend an existing one. Please only submit one Harmonized Scholarship application for each competition; multiple submissions will not be accepted by any applicant.
  3. Candidates seeking master’s degrees who have submitted applications to the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition can decide to use their CGS-M application as part of the Harmonized Scholarship Process. To achieve this, please go through the application process and choose “Master’s Level – CGS-M Opt-In” as the submission category. Your opt-in form, reference letters, and transcripts submitted for the Tri-Agency CGSM competition will all be linked to your CGS-M application by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Opt-in requests must be submitted by December 1st, which also happens to be the CGS-M application deadline set by Tri-Agency. You must submit a full Harmonized Scholarship Application in order to be considered for other awards if you do not opt-in with your CGS-M application.
  4. We strongly advise all applicants to fill out the self-identification form located on the online scholarship platform. Administrators can then make sure candidates are categorized into award opportunities with particular eligibility requirements before the review process begins. Information given in this questionnaire will be kept absolutely confidential and is not visible to reviewers.
  5. To advance through the application, click “Next” at the bottom of each page. The applicant can exit the application after clicking “Save” and come back to it later to make changes or updates.
  6. According to the requirements in the application, applicants must obtain official transcripts and upload them immediately in the scholarship portal. Copies of transcripts from admissions applications will not be given by FGS. Before submitting, transcripts from various universities must be consolidated into a single PDF. For the harmonized scholarship application procedure, unofficial grade reports rather than official transcripts may be used by current Dalhousie students.
  7. By the deadline of January 16, 2024 all reference letters must be submitted online (or February 15, in the case of non-thesis applicants). After this date, both applicants and referees will be unable to use the application portal, and incomplete applications won’t be sent for review. Reference letters cannot be sent through email or printed out on paper. It is strongly advised that candidates provide their referees with a deadline a few days to a week prior to January 14 in case of unforeseen emergencies or technical issues. Once references have been completed, the portal will send applicants an email message, and a “received” notation will show up in red by each referee’s name. Prior to the deadline, kindly keep an eye on the status of your references.
  8. Accept the terms and conditions, then finish the application by clicking “Save and Finalize”.

Note: Before the January 15 deadline, you may withdraw your application to make modifications, such as updating your transcripts with your fall grades or making adjustments in response to departmental feedback. If you withdraw your application, you must resubmit it by the deadline of January 15 in order to be taken into consideration.
